Allianz Field, the new $200 million home of the Minnesota United FC Major League Soccer team, nears the final stages of completion in time for the upcoming season beginning in April 2019. This Union built project was led by Mortenson and is located in the heart of the Minneapolis and St. Paul corridor, just off Snelling and Interstate 94.
The 100% privately funded project broke ground in the summer of 2018 and has created 1,750 Union jobs (about 200 for LIUNA members) and over $50 million in wages. When open, the stadium will seat 19,400 fans covering 346,000 square feet. Typical of large construction projects, LIUNA members get involved in many aspects from site work to concrete placement, masonry, landscape and more.
“This is the fastest that a pro sports venue has been constructed in the Twin Cities,” said Scott Amundson, Senior Superintendent of Mortenson Construction. “We couldn’t have done it without the readily available skilled Union trades men and women here in Minnesota and the Twin Cities who helped us greatly in meeting the tight time schedule.”
