LIUNA Minnesota Endorses Governor Tim Walz for Reelection
Saint Paul, MN – LIUNA Minnesota, representing 14,000 skilled construction and general Laborers across the state, today announced its endorsement of Governor Tim Walz for reelection.
"For six of the last seven years, Minnesota construction laborers have logged record work hours. That's not an accident, it's good policy," said Joel Smith, President and Business Manager of LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota.
Under Governor Walz's leadership, Minnesota has:
- Passed the two largest construction jobs bills in state history
- Made historic investments in roads, bridges, and water infrastructure
- Secured paid family and medical leave benefits for workers starting January 1
- Advanced significant permitting reform
- Prioritized local workers in clean energy projects
“Communities throughout Minnesota still have dangerous lead pipes that need to be replaced and crumbling roads and bridges that need to be fixed,” said Smith. “Working families still need more affordable housing and childcare. Governor Walz will keep prioritizing working Minnesotans over tax breaks for greedy corporations and the ultra-wealthy.”
