Saint Paul, MN — Today, LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota announced it will begin a statewide mail and targeted digital advertising program to reach over two million Minnesota voters. The program is in support of 161 LIUNA-endorsed state and local pro-infrastructure candidates (listed below).
The robust program begins Wednesday, with sample ballots being mailed to more than two million voters in nearly every precinct in the state, followed by infrastructure-focused mailings and digital advertising in support of endorsed candidates in 20 State Senate districts and eight additional State House districts. LIUNA’s political program is one of the largest in Minnesota and is designed to empower voters to choose candidates who will help create living wage jobs and make Minnesota’s roads, bridges and water systems safer.
The mailers and digital ads feature union Laborers endorsing local candidates who will rebuild our local economy by responsibly tackling the Coronavirus and work with both parties to solve problems, such as fixing Minnesota’s 631 structurally deficient bridges.
Joel Smith, President and Business Manager said, “Our crumbling infrastructure is putting the safety of our friends and neighbors at risk. These state and local leaders know their community’s needs, and understand they have a duty to make our roads, bridges and water systems safe. We’re counting on them to fix Minnesota’s infrastructure.”
In addition to mail and digital, the infrastructure union is also delivering a powerful field program. To date, union Laborers have completed tens of thousands of phone calls in support of Labor-endorsed candidates.
LIUNA endorses candidates who are focused on:
-
Protecting working peoples’ freedom to negotiate fair pay and benefits
-
Creating family-sustaining jobs, including living wages for construction workers
-
Providing guaranteed healthcare and retirement security
-
Advancing all workers’ freedom to prosper and care for their families
The state and local endorsements are the latest from the union in addition to prior endorsements for Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris for President and Vice President of the United States of America, Tina Smith for United States Senate, and Dan Feehan, Angie Craig, Dean Phillips, Tom Emmer, Collin Peterson and Pete Stauber for Congress.
