State House of Representatives Pass $1.9B Construction Jobs Bill

Saint Paul, MN – Today, Joel Smith, President and Business Manager of LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota offered the following statement after the Minnesota House of Representatives voted to pass a $1.9 billion bonding bill.

“Today’s vote on the House floor is welcome relief after months of uncertainty. With the State Senate’s approval, thousands of construction workers and communities in every part of the state will be able to look forward to necessary improvements to local infrastructure and the creation of high-quality jobs that will help rebuild our economy.

“We are thankful for all House Capital Investment Committee members and state representatives who put politics aside and voted to build a better Minnesota. We are grateful to Representatives Mary Murphy and Dean Urdahl for their commitment and endurance. We are especially grateful for Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman for stewarding this process up to the finish line for all of Minnesota."
