Legislature Fails Minnesota Workers Again: Infrastructure Union Demands Action After Second Year Without Bonding Bill

Saint Paul, MN – Today, Joel Smith, President and Business Manager of LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota, released the following statement after the Minnesota Legislature failed to pass a critical construction jobs bill for the second consecutive year.

“Four of the last five years in a row, the Legislature has left Minnesota's infrastructure crumbling and thousands of construction workers without the jobs they are proud of.

This isn't just disappointing – it's a failure that will be felt in every community across our state where roads continue to deteriorate, lead pipes remain in service, and working families struggle to make ends meet.

Delayed maintenance only leads to higher costs and greater risks. Each passing day means worsening conditions, lost economic opportunities, and Minnesota falling further behind.

We call on our state leaders to get back to work and pass a construction jobs bill immediately.”

The Minnesota Legislature has not passed a construction jobs bill since May 22, 2023.
