LIUNA is one of Minnesota's largest and most politically active unions.
We are proud to support leaders who share our values and priorities, including our core priorities of protecting workers’ freedom to join together in unions to negotiate for better pay, benefits and working conditions, requiring living wages for local construction workers on publicly-funded projects, and keeping Minnesota on track to create jobs that improve the economic well-being of LIUNA members and their families and neighbors.
Together, we are winning for Minnesota’s working people.
Thank You to the Biden-Harris Administration, Walz-Flanagan Administration, pro-job, pro-worker, pro-infrastructure leaders in Congress and the State Legislature for:
Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act | Inflation Reduction Act | CHIPS and Science Act | American Rescue Plan Act | Strengthening Federal Davis-Bacon prevailing wage and Project Labor Agreement regulations | Largest comprehensive transportation funding package in Minnesota history | Largest construction jobs bills in Minnesota history | Fixing our water infrastructure, including replacing lead drinking water pipes | Fully funding state matches for federal infrastructure investments | 100% Carbon-Free Energy by 2040 | Safe and Skilled Refinery Workforce Act | Expanding state prevailing wage | Preventing wage theft and misclassification | Expanding diversity and inclusion in the construction industry | Protecting worker freedoms | Expanding voting rights | Driver’s Licenses for All | Earned Sick and Safe Time | Paid Family and Medical Leave | Strengthening Broadband Worker and Infrastructure Safety | Streamlining Energy Permitting Process
Let’s build on the progress we are making.

SAINT PAUL — LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota today, released its final round of endorsements for the 2024 election cycle and announced its opposition to Saint Paul Ballot Question 2, which would move local elections for mayor and city council to presidential election years.
“Join union Laborers to help champions of working Minnesotans finish strong so we can build on the last few years' progress to keep fixing our critical infrastructure, create good jobs, and build strong communities," said President and Business Manager Joel Smith.
LIUNA represents thousands of laborers across Minnesota and in Saint Paul who fix and build roads, bridges, schools, buildings, and utilities, as well as provide public works and parks services.
"Moving city elections to presidential years will make it difficult for voters and candidates to be heard,” said Smith. "We urge Saint Paul voters to keep the focus on Saint Paul and vote no on City Question 2."
The infrastructure union endorsed Kelly Morrison for U.S. Representative (District 3), adding to its previous endorsements of Vice President Kamala Harris for President, Governor Tim Walz for Vice President, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, and U.S. Representative Angie Craig (District 2).
LIUNA also endorsed renewal of the constitutional amendment allocating some of the revenues from state lottery sales to the Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund. The fund has provided approximately $1.027 billion to 1,601 projects since 1991.
