Saint Paul, MN — In a statement today, Joel Smith, President and Business Manager of LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota, underscored the critical need for the Legislature to pass Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan’s $3.3 billion infrastructure plan.
Due to a slowdown in construction over winter, thousands of Minnesotans are laid off until the weather warms up. Joel Smith said, “The Governor and Lt. Governor's infrastructure plan is the foundation for thousands of construction workers' jobs and livelihoods starting this spring. The Legislature must pass a large, balanced infrastructure jobs bill that makes robust investments statewide. Minnesotans need safe and efficient transportation and clean water. Now is the time to fix Minnesota’s infrastructure and create living wage union jobs and careers for LIUNA members.”
